I mean if you think ABC gave too much of a platform to the terrorists (which provide no evidence to their claim), why didn’t you link to a news source that’s more objective than ABC?

This is a huge story. It’s surely been covered by more than one media outlet. Some news sources are probably more blunt in their coverage in saying that the Israelis committed a war crime by murdering volunteers, claiming unsubstantiated bullshit without providing any evidence

I meant that the Israeli gave the typical talking points.

And I shared the ABC article because that’s what’s referenced in the post.

I am not quick-snail, but I presume they mean a link to original ABC source instead of a Twitter screenshot.

It does make me uncomfortable to see Twitter cited so much across lemmy. And doing so would be good information hygiene, anyway.

That’s what I assumed too and specifically provided the ABC source. Which is why I’m confused.

It’s still not in the OP though. Most viewers on Lemmy are just going to see the tweet.

It’s not a huge deal to me since it links an actual journalist (Evan Dyer), but… it’s still bad information hygiene. I think linking the original source should be the gold standard for Lemmy. We can do better at sourcing than pasting screenshots.

I see what you mean. But the ABC article doesn’t mention Flickinger, so it wouldn’t have been relevant to the Canada community as is. The CBC reporter tweet about a Canadian death makes it relevant.

Edit: also going back to the original comment, I think they’re asking why did I share the ABC article if I said it was full of Israeli talking points. And my answer would be that it’s the ABC interview/article that the CBC reporter mentions.
