That’s so fucked. It’s almost as if the government doesn’t want to care for it’s constituents and hopes the private sector will provide these services instead.
As if those in positions to implement these systems are capitalists…

I believe the capitalist plan for the aged and unhealthy is well documented in the Soylent Corporation’s prospectus.
I do volunteer work in Toronto and within the past couple years that absolute massive increase in homeless seniors, middle-aged women, etc is staggering. Never before have I seen so many women in their 50s and older being homeless. never. So many older men also. And the problem is the system can’t cater to them because it’s never had to before. And these people are so damn exposed.
I said years ago that the homeless population was going to change and we’re seeing it now. The days of everyone saying “oh it’s just drug addicts and mentally ill people who are homeless” are long gone. I see it every week in food lines and clothing hand outs. the vast majority now are seniors, middle-aged people who lost their jobs, mentally fit individuals that are financially screwed. and the terrifying thing is people forget that drug use and mental illness are a symptom of homelessness. I’m seeing men in their 70s turning to drug use to cope. NEVER have I seen that before.

You still believe a whole generation is at fault and deserves this? This happened during a generation but not caused by it. This is still the 10% elite greed monkeys who like to fuck with things to see the negative effects on others. They exist in every generation.
I dont think 10% of the population is able to vote for decades neoliberal policies that erode society
Its easy to blame billionaires and the 1%, but we ultimately live in a democracy (or at least used to)… look at the results of every election and tell me that only 10% of the population voted for this
Most of us are nothing more than cattle being herded and are very skillfully tricked into thinking a certain way. You give the population too much credit. I should know…I’m one of those cattle. The only exception to this is when things get too tight and there is too much suffering and all hope is lost then a mob gets formed and a revolution starts. That’s when the people of any particular generation have the most power.
Sorry to break this to you, but these days, most GenXers are 50+, and we were never in charge of anything.
