I love Montréal and have been living there for more than 15 years, but the SPVM is one huge reason why I sometimes re-evaluate my decision to live there. It looks like they can just do and get whatever they want.
They can pepper spray patrons of restaurants because they saw student protesters taking refuge in there when they tried to illegally kettle them. My co-worker got peppered this way.
Other coworkers are a bit too dark for the SPVM so they often get harassed and picked on by the police.
Most of the SPVM is composed of suburbanites coming to “work in the big city jungle”.
I really don’t like the SPVM and again, they’re one of the biggest reason why I would eventually choose to leave Montréal.
The new mayor is absolutely not helping, but I unfortunately expected that. Even Projet Montréal was doing everything the police told them they had to do.
ACAB, and that includes the fucking SPVM.
Je n’habite pas au Québec mais j’follow l’excellente Celeste Trianon sur Instagram et elle partage tellement d’abus de pouvoir de la SPVM que j’ai même plus de haine pour eux que pour la GRC (qui occupe les fonctions de police municipale dans ma ville).

Justin était bon pour faire des promesses (le scrutin proportionnel, de kessé?) et pour dépenser. J’en connais une couple de gars comme ça, super sympathiques et agréables, sauf quand vient le temps de réparer les pots cassés laissés derrière eux. Je préfère pas Carney.
