Fundamentally, trade happens when you’ve got something that you don’t want as much as your neighbour does, but he has something that you want more than he does. The result is that each side gets something they wanted more.
We benefited trading with the UK. The US didn’t take over to benefit us. Don’t act like the Canada/US (or NAFTA) wasn’t the worst agreement in Canadian history.
All I see is our value added jobs went south of the border and we have to buy back our materials at a markup. If our materials ever undercut the US market then they’re tarriffed.
