Anyone remember a year ago when Liberals were posting opinions like this?

Illustration of Mark Carney giving a child aged Danielle Smith a puzzle toy labeled "Pipeline! Agreement in Principle".

5D chess, this pipeline will never, ever happen, just placating Danielle Smith, etc. Turns out the tricked one here wasn’t Smith.

Why is it national interest to ship OUT your oil? I’d think keeping it IN the nation would actually be national interest. Oh? That’s right, shareholder wealth…the rest is “f- the environment,” actually.

And as we’ve seen with Iran and Venezuela, oil production paints a bullseye on you.

Because it’s shit oil, a pain in the ass to refine, and only adequate enough for bunker fuel.

Because trade is good for everyone involved? That’s something the Americans have completely lost the plot on.

It wouldn’t have been if it was reliable.

Fundamentally, trade happens when you’ve got something that you don’t want as much as your neighbour does, but he has something that you want more than he does. The result is that each side gets something they wanted more.

It made both of us richer. Spare us this Trumpian zero-sum view, it’s normal for both trading partners to benefit.

We benefited trading with the UK. The US didn’t take over to benefit us. Don’t act like the Canada/US (or NAFTA) wasn’t the worst agreement in Canadian history.

It wasn’t now get out of here and educate yourself.

Even CUSMA has been beneficial for both parties.

Depending on other nations to refine our oil leaves us vulnerable. Which is why if we nationalize and refine most of our own oil, it would allow us to keep profits within the Canadian economy. So trade isn’t always a positive.

Why is the image for an article about oil pipelines, an image of a woman’s face?

That’s probably a hint as to whether this is journalism or click bait.

Rachel Gilmore is an award-winning journalist with extensive experience reporting on federal politics, human rights, disinformation and extremism.

Here literal job with CTV was to host a fact checking segment. And she did a really good job of fact checking. I wish more journalists bothered with facts.

That’s the author. If it were an old man would you care? The article is on point, this is almost as bad as running on voter reform and then going “haha no we aren’t going to do that actually, we like a two party system.”

And now, in the easy win for the liberals given the fascist shit across the border, I guess that means time for liberals to be more brazenly conservative.
