A separatist party narrowly won Quebec’s election on Monday, a result that could make it tougher for Prime Minister Mark Carney to maintain national unity against U.S. President Donald Trump. Provisional results showed the province of 9 million had opted for the Parti Quebecois of Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, which is promising to hold a referendum on breaking from Canada once Trump leaves office.

They didn’t win promising to hold a separatist vote. PSPP explicitly said that as long as Trump will be in power there will be no vote and I’m pretty sure there will be no vote at all in the next 4 years.

They win because they were transphobe and raciste

Most transphobes and racists prefer the shadows. Trump is currently causing to much light on these topics.

Yeah they dial it down since the Trump win but still they are. Most of their votes « have been stolen » by the openly Transphobe, Raciste, Conspiracy Theorists PCQ

They got a Minority government and as things stand, history rhymes and all that, if this tool was to attempt what his predecessor attempted by calling a snap election to get a majority they will loose it all again.

PQ have to team up with QS in order probably to pass most things whilst in power and Liberals/Cons are pretty much against any referendum.

Just the failure of a shit news rag sowing the usual bullshit to get clicks by dragging up the sovereignty crap that Quebecers have time and again told those the bring it up and call early shit elections on to jog on.

So of a province of 9million under 2 million voted PQ, the rest split across libs, cons and QS in that order.

let’s see if they last longer than 2 years 👍

If anything this a giant middle finger to the CAQ who promised big and welched on just about everything they promised to deliver. The CAQ deserved the resounding kick to the balls.

They didn’t exactly win, they have a minority government and once they start running things, I give the government 6 months before they are turfed out.

Because it’s the Quebec provincial elections and every news site wanting clicks drags out the Sovereignty crap every time … guaranteed.

[Edit] Sovereignty news is so hot right now too.

well it’s been just over 30 years since the last one so we’re long overdue for another one considering the one before that was in 1980. I expect they’ll try again in another 15 to 30 years.
