nothing, it’s beyond consideration to start the process of less deaths, less pollution, lower healthcare costs and lower cost of living, if people were concerned they would be voting Green and protesting cars ah la the Dutch in the 1970’s.

Given that we’re talking about traffic deaths, I’m not sure even that would be sufficient.

If a few kids from politicians were killed in said traffic deaths it might. Nothing else is going to do it that’s for sure.

Humanity as a whole seems to have decided that traffic deaths are an inevitable consequence of modern city living (regardless of whether that’s actually true or not). I don’t think a handful of politicians deciding otherwise would move the needle much.

Why would a politician’s child be walking around in a poor neighborhood where traffic deaths are common.

Every politician has a publicly funded family doctor while 30% of average Canadians have no access to one.

And most of those same politicians can afford to pay for private doctors unlike the majority of their doctorless constituents.

I didn’t say they would be, I said the only way they’ll actually do anything is if it happens.

Why is the number so high

This from a paper in a country where there’s about 5 mass shootings a day?

and what can be done about it?

    Reliable commuter rail.

Let’s not do this to each other
