If an election were held today, 48% of committed voters would vote Liberal, 32% Conservative, 9% NDP, 6% Bloc Québécois, 3% Green, 1% People’s Party, and 1% another party.

It’s still absolutely wild to me that the Conservatives doubled down and kept PP as leader after the last election

Hmm, if only there was some sort of electoral reform they could do to proportionally represent this in the elected government…

LPC won because most people wanted to keep whiney christian-nationalist bigots out of the office. Not because we wanted to see federal government destroy any and all workers’ rights. Not to see more power and free money handed to billionaires and corporations.

Carney won’t be able to use anti-american scare tactics to get his way forever. It’s great that Pierre PP is not our Prime Minister, but WTF is LPC doing? Do they want to see maple-MAGA win the next election?

Yes of course they do. It’s important (to them) that we alternate exclusively between right-wingers in red and right-wingers in blue. If they allow socialists into power even once, the Overton window will be dragged to the left and their owners can’t allow that.

No, and that’s why the NDP shouldn’t have elected Avi Lewis. Between the two of them, I vote Carney. Now, replace him with Stiles and we talk.

Yea, she’s Ontario NDP leader and a good one at that.

OP didn’t mix it up. They said specifically yo replace Avi with Stiles at the federal level. That doesn’t mean she is a federal politician, but it’d be nice if she was the federal NDP leader.

Disagreed. Stiles will lead to another ford win as she rides the centre and it doesn’t work.

Avi Lewis is finally pushing the party back to its worker roots and this is the NDPs only real chance.

If Ford wins, it will be because the 60% of voters who don’t want him to win can’t make up their minds who they want to replace him. When Lewis loses (again), it will be because he’s told the 70% of people who might consider voting NDP he doesn’t want them.

I live in a provincial NDP riding. Every riding in this city except one went NDP in 2025. And yes, I voted for that. I will be surprised as hell if Lewis doesn’t lose seats.

You deleted your other comment, so I’ll just put this here instead.

Avi has run. Twice. In two different ridings. He came in third in both elections. Sure, he wasn’t the NDP leader at the time, but name recognition should have worked in his favour. Ask yourself why it didn’t.

No, canadians punished Singh and as they should have. He was a Rolex wearing pretend progressive. You can ignore that he tanked the party all you want but that’s fine. Also, true progressive and pro worker messages will always take more effort and time as they get attacked on all sides by monied voices. Layton lost a lot of elections before he started winning some.

He ran for NDP under Singh. Thats as much Singhs fault as any NDP running under him. Also, he is the first to be trying to pull the party back to pro worker positions so give him time. Nearly every other NDP leader we’ve seen in a long while have been centrists and that rarely works out for them.

Edit: for all your weird targeted Lewis hate i hope you at least acknowledge he is rising in polls, and starting to bite at CPC numbers. Singh and Mulcair did nothing but erase NDP support.

Hey, he can have all the CPC voters he wants. Sooner that party resets the better for Canada. That by no means says he’ll lead the NDP to government, though.

And if your bar is Singh, it’s on the floor. That supply and confidence agreement with Trudeau was dumb. And while that explains the result in 2025, what’s your excuse for 2021? Singh hadn’t screwed up the party yet.

The Carney admin has actually been doing more than I’ve seen any Canadian government do in my entire lifetime.

Just looking at the last two months:

    • All the trade war shit with Trump
    • EU associate membership
    • launched Digital Transformation Canada, which I’m pretty excited about. As long as they don’t consolidate everything further into M365 which has been the plan the last several years.
    • launched Sovereign Cloud Services procurement project for new cloud services in Canada with national security exemptions and requirements. We spend over $120M/year on cloud, though the exact number isn’t clear because there’s a ladder of different contract agreements. We can afford to build/source our own at that budget.
    • launched Canadian Council on AI
    • Evan Solomon (I know we all hate him) has started digital partnerships with UK + Ireland after the AI summit
    • Had our first sovereign-tech-alliance meeting with Germany
    • Defence department is building a new Canadian datacenter
    • ISED announced roadmap for sovereign compute infrastructure

Microsoft is shitting itself. This year should have been over a billion in contract renewals after the 2019 contracts close out, and now they’re putting out white papers that “Sovereign” tech is compatible with the CLOUD Act because you can still control your data (just don’t worry about the US government having access to it).

Never in my life have I seen the government move this quickly and US companies shit themselves so hard.

        The answer is supply side.

I still want them to make the CMHC build houses for average families and developers can try to compete.

Right note there’s not enough competition and developers are building up market instead of for real families.

I don’t care what side the demand is on. We’ve been talking about fixing the housing crisis since at least 2006. Enough already. Cut immigration, build more housing, and for crying out freaking loud pressure the provinces to implement proper vacancy control.

No, federal NDP voters, national vacancy control at the federal level is not an option. Not even if Avi says it should be.

Yeah, essentially subsidized housing both for sale and for rent. Then builders will need to be competitive or justify higher costs by having actual higher quality homes.

Right now they sell average homes for premium prices.

LPC is passionately bashed here far more often than any other party.

Sure there are partisans, but there’s a large number that isn’t loyal to any political party and wants the best for average, working class Canadians.

Carney is slowly becoming the new Justin with the bullshit he keeps pulling.
