The United States federal government has said loud and clear that not only are foreign visitors not wanted, they are risking their freedom by setting foot on American soil. I don’t see how anyone would be interested in visiting under those conditions who doesn’t have family or the like in the States.
“I’m telling everybody in Canada, please come. We love you, we need you, and we miss you,”
That’s not what we’re seeing from the White House, lady.

Which makes it even more puzzling that European automotive restoration YouTubers are now moving to the US, or starting to spend extended periods of time there. Mat Armstrong literally bought a house in Florida (might’ve been in Miami proper) so he and his crew could hang out while they restore that forex scammer’s Bugatti and Sreten (M539Restorations) has been restoring a super rare E31 in Virginia for… I don’t know how long he was in the states since the videos take longer to come out than all the action itself, but it must’ve been a few weeks at least to make 3 hour-long videos.
Granted they’re all white folks, but so am I and I wouldn’t want to park my ass there while Trump’s in charge.

The researchers analyzed data from Canadian mobile devices travelling to U.S. metro areas
Yeah, there’s your problem. People I know leave their phone at home and use a burner for US travel now.
It isn’t even just burners. Even before everything got like it is now, I would get a US-based SIM/eSIM, because it was always cheaper than roaming with my Canadian plan.
Seems like the numbers might be skewed even more if people don’t have a Canada/US plan.
When did they start doing that though? This study is only comparing numbers from April 2025 to March 2026.
Wouldn’t this mean they underestimate the number of people who are in the us from canada, rather than over estimate?
Yes and I think that’s what the person you’re replying to is implying as well.
Oh durr. Thanks
Hah, Good.
